MENTAL EDGE
Hello! My name is DeLeah Poe, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with more than 10 years of experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents and adults.
My journey into sports performance counseling began about seven years ago when my son became highly competitive in athletics. As we traveled across the country for competitions, I noticed something that statistics and scoreboards often miss—the significant mental and emotional challenges young athletes face. I watched athletes’ confidence disappear after a mistake, their body language change after criticism from a coach or parent, and their performance suffer under pressure and self-doubt.
Being a teenager is challenging on its own. When you add the demands of high-level competition, performance expectations, and the pressure to succeed, the impact on mental health can be significant. That’s where I am passionate about helping.
I specialize in working with athletes ages 12 and older who want to strengthen their mental game, improve performance, and build confidence both in and out of competition. For the past four years, I have focused my studies and clinical work on sports performance counseling, helping athletes develop the mental skills necessary to thrive under pressure.
I have had the privilege of helping athletes overcome challenges such as the “twisties,” mental blocks, low self-esteem, performance anxiety, and confidence issues. Together, we work on developing elite mental preparation skills, emotional resilience, focus, and a healthy mindset that supports both athletic success and overall well-being.
My goal is simple: to help athletes feel better about themselves, perform at their highest potential, and understand the powerful role that mental health plays in sports and in life.
